Dr Annie Cushing is Head of the Clinical and Communication Skills Learning Unit and Queen Mary Lead for the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) in Clinical and Communication Skills awarded jointly with City University London in 2005. Her main responsibility is the development and implementation of the communication skills curriculum in the medical school and related faculty development.
Annie qualified as a dentist and had 18 years experience as a clinician, researcher and educator in the dental field until her interest in communication between patients and healthcare professionals led her to her current role.
She is adviser to the GMC Professional Linguistics Assessment Board OSCE Panel and the National Clinical Assessment Service on the assessment of communication competency.
