Dr. Clare Penlington is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education here at Barts and The London Medical school. She is an educationalist and psychotherapist with a keen interest in how the humanities can work as a creative and humanising force in what can often feel like very challenging organisational contexts.
Clare also has a range of interests and curiosities about teaching and learning—including a specific interest in the way practitioner research can bridge the divide between theory and practice in teaching, and the role that practitioner-other dialogue can play in creating change in education, and other settings.
Clare co-leads the MA Education for Clinical Settings programme, as well leading the postgraduate module ‘Teaching and Learning for Medicine and Dentistry’, and the ‘Doctors as Teachers and Educators’ (DATE) core course for fifth-year medical students. Clare also teaches on the intercalated BSc in Medical Education.
